Pandoc Alternative for Markdown Online

Convert supported documents to Markdown online without installing Pandoc. MarkAny covers files→Markdown (and Markdown exports elsewhere)—not Pandoc’s full arbitrary format matrix, and not a substitute for pandoc.org or pandoc-wasm.

ONLINE ALTERNATIVE FEATURES

MarkAny conversion for the same files-to-Markdown job.

This page reuses MarkAny’s existing converter—not a hosted copy of the named open-source tool. See what the workflow supports and what still needs a human check.

01

    Supported

Use a public HTTPS direct file link when you are converting a single remote file.

    Supported

Conditions & review

These details may not transfer completely or may need a manual check. Review them in the preview.

  • Not the named engine

MarkAny is an independent converter, not an official hosted edition of these tools. DOC/DOCX conversion uses a third-party MinerU service; complete engine or feature parity is not promised.

    Review
  • Complex source layouts

Multi-column pages, scans, merged cells, diagrams, and dense tables may need correction after conversion.

SCOPE

Stay within MarkAny’s format set

Use this when your goal is Markdown—not every possible Pandoc input/output pair.

Before you convert.

Online Pandoc alternative for Markdown: convert PDF, Office, HTML, EPUB, and images to MD in the browser. Not a full Pandoc replacement; not pandoc-wasm.

What is Pandoc?+

Pandoc is the widely used universal document converter (CLI and libraries) documented at pandoc.org. For an official in-browser Pandoc experience, see pandoc-wasm at pandoc.github.io/pandoc-wasm.

Is MarkAny a full Pandoc replacement?+

No. Pandoc converts many format pairs via CLI. MarkAny focuses on converting supported files to Markdown online (and separate Markdown export tools). It does not run Pandoc.

When should I use this page instead of installing Pandoc?+

When you want Markdown from PDF, Office, HTML, EPUB, or images in the browser without installing or configuring Pandoc—especially when OCR or Office batch matters more than Pandoc’s full IO matrix.

Can MarkAny convert Markdown to every Pandoc output?+

No. Use MarkAny’s Markdown export tools for DOCX, PDF, HTML, images, EPUB, PPTX, and XLSX—not the full Pandoc ecosystem.

Do I need a Pandoc account or binary?+

No. Upload files here, convert with MarkAny’s cloud pipeline, and preview the Markdown result.

Where do format-specific converters live?+

See PDF to Markdown, Word to Markdown, and the tools index for format-owned pages.

Can I convert multiple files at once?+

Yes. Add up to five files of the selected type, with a 50 MB limit per file and a 250 MB total selection limit. MarkAny processes up to two at once and lets you cancel or retry individual items.

What happens to files I upload?+

File-to-Markdown conversion uses MarkAny’s cloud storage and conversion infrastructure. The current service does not publish a guaranteed deletion timeframe, so do not upload confidential, sensitive, or regulated material.

Do I need an account to convert files?+

Sign in to convert files. New accounts receive 5 free conversions; a subscription is required after they are used.
