Docling Alternative: Documents to Markdown Online

Online Docling-style document-to-Markdown without installing IBM Docling, Python, or local models. For Docling itself see docling.ai. MarkAny converts supported files in the browser and does not run Docling or promise TableFormer/DocLang parity.

ONLINE ALTERNATIVE FEATURES

MarkAny conversion for the same files-to-Markdown job.

This page reuses MarkAny’s existing converter—not a hosted copy of the named open-source tool. See what the workflow supports and what still needs a human check.

Conditions & review

These details may not transfer completely or may need a manual check. Review them in the preview.

  • Not the named engine

MarkAny is an independent converter, not an official hosted edition of these tools. DOC/DOCX conversion uses a third-party MinerU service; complete engine or feature parity is not promised.

  • Complex source layouts

Multi-column pages, scans, merged cells, diagrams, and dense tables may need correction after conversion.

Docling alternative online: convert PDF, Office, HTML, EPUB, and images to Markdown in the browser with MarkAny. Not hosted Docling; not IBM Docling.

What is Docling?+

Docling is an open document toolkit (docling.ai / docling-project on GitHub) for converting PDFs and office files into structured outputs, often used with Python installs, docling-serve, or IBM managed paths.

Does MarkAny run IBM Docling?+

No. MarkAny is not Docling-as-a-service and is not affiliated with IBM or DS4SD Docling. This page is an online alternative for the document-to-Markdown scenario.

When should I use Docling vs MarkAny?+

Use docling.ai (or a dedicated Docling host such as RunDocling) when you need Docling itself. Use MarkAny for a quick no-install cloud files→Markdown path with preview—not TableFormer, DocLang, or DoclingDocument parity.

Do I need local Python models?+

No. Upload supported files in the browser and convert with MarkAny’s existing cloud pipeline.

Which formats are supported?+

PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, HTML/HTM, EPUB, and JPG/PNG/WebP—formats MarkAny already converts, not Docling’s full toolkit surface.

Where is the format-specific converter?+

Use PDF to Markdown or Word to Markdown when your intent is format-led.

Can I convert multiple files at once?+

Yes. Add up to five files of the selected type, with a 50 MB limit per file and a 250 MB total selection limit. MarkAny processes up to two at once and lets you cancel or retry individual items.

What happens to files I upload?+

File-to-Markdown conversion uses MarkAny’s cloud storage and conversion infrastructure. The current service does not publish a guaranteed deletion timeframe, so do not upload confidential, sensitive, or regulated material.

Do I need an account to convert files?+

Sign in to convert files. New accounts receive 5 free conversions; a subscription is required after they are used.
